Frequently asked questions
Can I download these patterns for free?
4 of 7 are free to download right from the pattern page. The other 3 are on the makers’ sites: we don’t host them and link to the maker instead — free or to their shop.
Which pattern should a beginner start with?
There are no easy patterns here; the most approachable are medium: Astor Pen Case, Oren Glasses Case and HM Tote Bag. All easy patterns in the catalog are in Easy leather patterns for beginners.
How do I print a pattern at actual size?
Paper sizes: A4 — 5, Letter — 2, A0 — 1. Print at 100% scale (“Actual size”) with “Fit to page” turned off, and check the test square or a piece dimension with a ruler before cutting.
What leather should I use?
The body is usually cut from 1.4–2 mm (3.5–5 oz) leather, handles and straps from firmer 2.5–3.5 mm (6–9 oz) leather. Makers often give the exact thickness — check the description and notes on the pattern page.
What language are the instructions in?
Instruction languages: English — 4, Russian — 3. Even without the language you can follow the drawings and video tutorial, and titles and descriptions on the site are translated into English, Russian and Spanish.
