Frequently asked questions
Can I download these patterns for free?
6 of 7 are free to download right from the pattern page. The remaining one is on the maker’s site: we don’t host it and link to the maker instead — free or to their shop.
Which pattern should a beginner start with?
Start with the easy ones: Flint Hunter's Document Holder, Novara Notebook Cover and Norik Passport Cover — 4 easy patterns in total. Small projects with few pieces are the easiest way to learn even stitching and edge finishing.
Are there video tutorials?
Yes, 2 of 7 come with the maker’s video tutorial, which you can watch right on the pattern page. For example: Flint Hunter's Document Holder and Novara Notebook Cover. All patterns with video are in Leather patterns with video tutorials.
How do I print a pattern at actual size?
Paper sizes: A4 — 7, A3 — 1. Print at 100% scale (“Actual size”) with “Fit to page” turned off, and check the test square or a piece dimension with a ruler before cutting.
What leather should I use?
These are usually made from firm veg-tan or combination-tanned leather 0.8–1.4 mm (2–3.5 oz) thick: it holds its shape and takes a clean burnished edge. Makers often give the exact thickness — check the description and notes on the pattern page.
What language are the instructions in?
Instruction languages: English — 4. Even without the language you can follow the drawings and video tutorial, and titles and descriptions on the site are translated into English, Russian and Spanish.
